Welcome! Hope your day is splendid and you have found this website on purpose. Here you will find my weekly newspaper column, Mike’s Life, which I have written since 1996. My column is currently carried in the Aiken (S.C.) Standard and the Pulaski (Tenn.) Citizen. If you are interested in having your local paper carry my column, shoot me some info (firstname.lastname@example.org)! I’ve also got some of my other writing on here, which includes bio pieces, personal essays and feature stories.
For what it’s worth, I am the executive director for the Charleston Regional Alliance for the Arts, a position I took in 2014. Prior to that, I was a development officer for Golden Harvest Food Bank, a position I took in 2012 after 15 years (off and on) as a journalist. I’m a graduate of the University of Alabama, and was also the Executive Director of Aiken Community Playhouse before moving to Charleston. (That was a full-time volunteer gig, but a rewarding one for not just me, but my wife and kids, who were also very involved.) In what free time I have, I like to spend it in the swamp or the woods, rounding up critters.
Hope you enjoy kicking around my little corner of the web, and I hope to hear from you!
